  • How can InterArts Funding assist my social enterprise or arts organization?
InterArts Funding provides comprehensive support and funding solutions to social enterprises and arts organizations. Our aim is to help you overcome financial barriers, enhance your competencies, and achieve your artistic and social objectives. We have four key pillars of support; grant writing, fundraising strategy development, assistance with organizational setup and training.
  • I am an individual, can InterArts help me?
While our primary focus is on assisting social enterprises, NGOs, and NPOs, we understand that individuals can also play a vital role in the creative economy. While our services are primarily tailored to organizations, we encourage individuals with creative projects and initiatives to reach out to us. While we may have limited capacity to directly support individual endeavors, we can provide guidance, resources, and referrals to help you navigate the fundraising landscape and connect with potential partners. We believe in the power of individual creativity and are here to support and encourage your artistic aspirations.
  • How does the grant writing process work?
The grant writing process involves several stages. After evaluating your organization's eligibility and discussing our findings in a feedback session, we move into the conceptual phase where we weave your ideas into a feasible project plan. Our professional grant writers then craft the grant proposal, which goes through a revision process to address any deficiencies. Once the funding-ready proposal is approved, we assist with its submission.
  • What is the fee structure for grant writing services?
For our grant writing services, our fee is $1500, plus a 5.5% success fee that is only paid if the project is approved. This structure ensures that we are invested in your success and aligns our incentives with achieving positive outcomes.
  • Can you help with strategy development for my organization?
Yes, InterArts Funding can assist with strategy development for your organization. We can help you create a business plan and map out potential projects and products aligned with global funding trends. We also provide guidance in developing comprehensive and realistic project plans through the use of templates, tools, and resources.
  • How do you evaluate the eligibility of an entity for funding?
While there is no one-size-fits all approach in fundraising, we have amassed a wealth of knowledge on the key requirements that funders and donors expect from potential grantees. Our primary goal is to ensure that your organisation is fundable. We conduct an evaluation/assessment process to fully understand your entity's eligibility for funding. After this process we provide you with feedback which should help you progress to the next steps in your fundraising journey.
  • InterArts Funding shares some open calls, how can we apply?
At times, we share funding opportunities that we think are relevant for you. When you see these calls please read them carefully, with a view to apply. Once you have made your decision, you can apply through us or completely on your own. Thus, we also provide a good resource for fundraising opportunities.
  • How long does the grant writing process take?
We need a minimum of 3 weeks to conclude a grant application.
  • How long does it take to formulate a fundraising strategy?
On average, we need a month to develop a fundraising strategy. Please do note, however, that this is purely an indicative time as progress also depends on the client and the type of organisation they are.
  • Are there any types of projects that InterArts Funding does not support?
While InterArts Funding is committed to supporting a wide range of creative projects and organizations, there are certain project types that fall outside the scope of our support. We do not provide assistance for projects that promote discrimination, hatred, sensationalism, or offensive content. Additionally, projects that are primarily political, religious, or have a partisan agenda are not within the focus of our support. We prioritize initiatives that foster inclusivity, social impact, and positive change within the arts and cultural sector. Our goal is to empower social enterprises and arts organizations that align with our mission of creating a vibrant and sustainable arts ecosystem in Africa. We encourage individuals and organizations to consider these guidelines when seeking our assistance, as we strive to support projects that embrace diversity, respect, and contribute to a better society.
  • How do you ensure the quality and effectiveness of grant proposals before submission?
To ensure the quality and effectiveness of grant proposals, we have a rigorous revision process. After the initial writing, another writer goes over the proposal and scores it based on an evaluation table. Any deficiencies identified are then addressed and fixed to enhance the overall quality and maximize the chances of success. The funding-ready proposal is presented to you for approval before submission.
  • Why should I engage in fundraising?
Fundraising plays a crucial role in the success and sustainability of projects and organizations within the creative sector. Here are a few reasons why fundraising is essential: Financial Support: Fundraising provides the necessary financial resources to bring your creative ideas to life. It helps cover operational costs, project expenses, equipment, staff salaries, and other essential needs. Expand Impact: With adequate funding, you can expand the reach and impact of your project or organization. It allows you to reach more audiences, develop innovative initiatives, and make a difference in your community or beyond. Resource Mobilization: Fundraising enables you to tap into a network of supporters, partners, and donors who share your passion and values. It helps build relationships and connections that can provide additional resources, expertise, and opportunities. Sustainability: By diversifying your funding sources through fundraising, you reduce dependence on a single funding stream. This enhances the long-term sustainability of your project or organization, ensuring continued operations and growth. Artistic Freedom: Fundraising gives you the freedom and autonomy to pursue your creative vision without compromising artistic integrity. It allows you to maintain control over your projects and align them with your artistic goals, rather than being solely dependent on restrictive funding conditions. Community Engagement: Fundraising provides an opportunity to engage your community and create a sense of ownership and shared purpose. It fosters collaboration, support, and involvement from individuals, businesses, and other organizations who believe in your mission. Ultimately, fundraising is not just about securing financial resources. It is about building relationships, generating awareness, and mobilizing support for your artistic endeavors. It empowers you to realize your creative vision, make a positive impact, and contribute to the cultural fabric of society.
  • What is the process for project conceptualization and proposal development?
Every funder wants to fund the most meaningful work that aligns with their mission and current strategy. This brings a lot of pressure on applicants to articulate their project in a way that resonates with the potential funder. Additionally, there are some basic principles that you cannot miss in an application. The project conceptualization phase involves drawing a sound business plan (if its not there already), needs assessment, budgeting, drawing up a monitoring and evaluation plan, sustainability plan, and realistic action plans. Our team conducts research and extensive planning to weave your ideas into a feasible project plan that aligns with your objectives and meets the requirements of potential funders. Our grant writers then craft the proposal, ensuring it effectively communicates your artistic project to prospective funders.
