About the opportunity

InterArts Funding (IaF) is an arts agency that provides funding solutions and comprehensive support to social enterprises, arts organizations and creatives in Africa. Our services revolve around helping arts practitioners to unlock new funding, opportunities and competencies that enable them to achieve their artistic and social objectives. IaF's key services include resource mobilisation (capital campaigns, grant writing, grant management services and critical business strategies). We also do research and accelerator programmes dedicated to African creatives.


IaF is in its launch phase and on a path to be one of the most important enablers for creatives in Africa. In the formative period of the business, the Business Development Assistant's main task will be support the Director in creating business opportunities for IaF. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-starter passionate about the arts and making positive change in the continent's vibrant cultural and creative industries (CCIs).


Responsibilities


1.     Follow up on leads and conduct research to identify new potential prospects. 

2.     Establish business relations with clients over email, social networks and via phone.

3.     Act as the central communication support for existing and new clients.

4.     Assist in preparing paperwork for new and existing clients.

5.     Cultivate professional relationships by initiating communications and keeping in touch with potential clients.

6.     Research and post funding opportunities on the website and on social media.

7.     Send a bi-weekly opportunities newsletter to members.

8.     Assist in the preparation of grant applications.

9.     Other related duties


Requirements


1.     Tertiary education / equivalent

2.     Minimum 3 years working experience

3.     Knowledge of the cultural and creative industries (CCIs)

4.     Knowledge of customer service principles and business correspondence experience (preferred) 

5.     Well-organized, attentive to details and customer oriented

6.     Understanding of administration

7.     Advantageous: Fundraising experience, Sales and  marketing experience


·      Job type: Full-time, Monday-Friday; flexible working hours.
