
Primal Still Vodka and Contra.Joburg have launched an open call for visual artists and designers based in Johannesburg to create an artwork or design for the new Primal Still Vodka bottle label.
The "Still in the City" competition invites South Africa's boldest creative voices to have their work take centre stage, not on a gallery wall, but in the hands of vodka lovers nationwide. The winning design will be featured on a limited-edition Primal Still Vodka bottle, with the artist credited on the label and promotional materials.
Prizes
Winner:Â R6,000 cash prize, design featured on the limited-edition bottle, artist credit on the label and promotional materials, exhibition of original artwork at Primal Head Office in August 2026, exclusive feature during Contra.Joburg 2026, and an invitation to a private distillery tour and curated tasting experience
1st Runner Up:Â R3,000 cash prize, exhibition at Primal Head Office, feature during Contra.Joburg 2026, and a distillery tour invitation
2nd Runner Up:Â R1,000 cash prize, exhibition at Primal Head Office, feature during Contra.Joburg 2026, and a distillery tour invitation
Programme focus
The selection committee of art and design professionals will evaluate submissions on creativity, craftsmanship, and connection. Applicants may submit up to four designs.
Please note: no AI-generated artwork or designs will be accepted.

The competition is open to visual artists and designers based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
