
The SFFILMÂ has opened applications for the SFFILM Documentary Film Fund (DFF), supporting feature-length documentary projects in post-production.
The fund supports compelling documentary storytelling with a strong artistic vision, focusing on projects that demonstrate originality, engaging narratives, and innovative visual approaches.
Since its launch, the programme has supported internationally acclaimed films and continues to invest in new voices and distinctive storytelling in documentary cinema.
Funding
Selected projects may receive grants ranging from USD 10,000 to USD 20,000.
In addition to financial support, recipients gain access to the SFFILM Makers artist development programme, which includes mentorship, industry connections, and professional development opportunities.
Eligibility
Applications are open to filmmakers worldwide who meet the following criteria:
Applicants must be at least 18 years old
Applicants must be a key creative on the project (producer or director)
Project must be a feature-length documentary (60 minutes or more)
Project must be within three months of entering post-production
Project must demonstrate originality in storytelling and visual approach
Projects can be produced anywhere globally and should align with SFFILM’s commitment to innovative and impactful filmmaking.
Focus
The fund supports documentaries that feature compelling stories, strong characters, and a distinct artistic voice.
Projects relying primarily on interviews as a storytelling device are not eligible.
