Open Call: SAMPRA Development Fund Travel and Touring Funding 2026/27

The SAMPRA Development Fund is inviting applications from professional recording artists, bands, and record companies seeking financial assistance for live performances staged locally and internationally between 1 June 2026 and 31 May 2027.


Designed to support South African artists expanding their reach, the Fund contributes toward approved travel and touring costs, including air and road travel, accommodation, visa application fees, car hire, band fees, and daily travel allowances. Awards of up to R500,000 (excluding VAT) are available per trip, covering no more than 50% of the total travel and touring budget.


SAMPRA may utilise appointed travel agents to make travel and accommodation arrangements on behalf of successful applicants. Daily travel allowances are processed during the week of travel. Funding support is subject to compliance with all reporting and documentation requirements.


Who can apply

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be professional recording artists, record companies, and members of SAMPRA

  • Be based in South Africa

  • Have earned at least R3,000 from SAMPRA

  • Have been invited or booked to perform at a live music event locally or internationally

  • Present live performances (pre-recorded events are not eligible)

  • Demonstrate potential for national, continental, or international appeal


Application information

Applications must include a detailed motivational letter, artist profile, promoter invitation letter, copy of ID (for local travel) or passport (for international travel), and third-party quotations aligned with the submitted budget.
