Open Call: SAMPRA Development Fund for music production in SA

Amount:

ZAR 120K

The SAMPRA Development Fund is offering financial assistance to professional recording artists and record companies who are members of the South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA) and wish to record a single or album.


Applicants can receive up to:

  • R120,000 (exclusive of VAT) for music production costs.

  • The Fund will cover up to 50% of the total production budget.


Eligible expenses


Funding can be used for:

  • Pre-production

  • Studio rental

  • Mastering costs

  • Graphic design

  • Session fees

  • Pressing

  • Catering and accommodation during recording sessions


Eligibility criteria

To apply, you must:

  • Be a SAMPRA member.

  • Have earned at least R3,000 from SAMPRA royalties.


A complete application must include:

  • A motivational letter explaining your project

  • Artist profile

  • Copy of ID (for individuals)

  • CK documents (for record companies)

  • Detailed budget breakdown with quotations from third-party vendors

  • History of previous music production projects

  • Project Concept, Aims & Objectives

  • Project Timelines

  • Marketing Plan
