From the Heart Productions has opened applications for the Roy W. Dean Grant – Summer 2026, supporting independent filmmakers working on socially impactful projects.
The grant supports films that demonstrate strong storytelling and meaningfully contribute to society, with a focus on projects that “touch the heart” and draw attention to underrepresented or little-known subjects.
Funding
The selected project will receive a cash grant of USD 3,500, along with approximately USD 30,000 in donated production services.
In addition to financial support, recipients benefit from industry resources and services to support the development, production, and distribution of their project
Eligibility
Applications are open to a wide range of filmmakers, including:
Independent filmmakers (directors, producers, documentarians)
Student filmmakers at all levels
Independent production companies
International applicants
Project requirements include:
Total project budget must not exceed USD 500,000
Eligible formats include documentaries, narrative features, short films, and web series
Projects may be at any stage of development, production, or post-production
Projects must demonstrate social impact or contribute meaningfully to public awareness
All applications must include a sample of previous work via an online video link (e.g. Vimeo or YouTube).
Focus
The grant prioritises projects that present unique perspectives, highlight underrepresented stories, and engage audiences through emotionally compelling and socially relevant storytelling.
