The National Arts Council of South Africa (NAC) has announced the official opening of its Annual Project Funding Call for the 2025/26 financial year. Applications can now be submitted from individual arts practitioners, registered organisations, and community art centres engaged in South Africa’s diverse arts landscape.
The call opened on 2 June 2025 and will close on 11 July 2025 at 23:59 (SAST). Successful applicants will be notified by 17 October 2025.
This annual funding opportunity is available to practitioners working in the disciplines of craft, dance, literature, music, theatre and musical theatre, visual arts, and multidisciplinary arts. The NAC particularly encourages applications that focus on indigenous art forms and capacity-building in intellectual property, aiming to support work that educates, entertains, and empowers.
Each proposed project must demonstrate clear community impact and address at least two of the NAC’s six key critical focus areas:
Social Cohesion and Nation Building
Marginalised and Indigenous Arts
Addressing Social Ills
Supporting Vulnerable Groups
New Works and Digital Arts
Capacity Building and Arts Entrepreneurship
Applicants may request funding of up to R350 000, with the final allocations made in accordance with the NAC’s transformation and redress priorities. Only one application will be accepted per applicant (natural or juristic person), and all submissions must comply with NAC’s funding guidelines.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted via the NAC’s online portal at https://nac.praxisgms.co.za.
