The Mobility Grants for Artists and Culture Professionals support short-term international mobility, professional exchange and artistic development across Sub-Saharan Africa and the European Union.
The scheme primarily supports Africa-to-Africa mobility, creating opportunities for artists and culture professionals to connect with peers in other African countries, undertake research, collaborate on creative projects, access new professional contexts and build lasting networks.
Artists and culture professionals based in the European Union may also apply where they can demonstrate an established partnership, collaboration or previous engagement with an African artist, institution or organisation.
Funding
Applicants can receive up to €4,000 per mobility.
The grant can contribute towards international and domestic travel, accommodation, subsistence, visa costs and insurance.
Applicants may also request additional support for childcare or family care costs and costs related to accessibility or disability needs.
Scope and approach
The mobility grant supports professional activities that strengthen artistic practice, international networks and cultural exchange.
Eligible activities may include:
Research into cultural heritage, artistic practices and cultural ecosystems.
Co-creation and co-development with artists from other countries.
Participation in residencies, mentorships and structured learning programmes.
Invitations to exhibitions, festivals and significant cultural events.
Attendance or performance at conferences and professional events.
Professional networking and the development of international partnerships.
Skills exchange and professional development.
Mobility activities must take place between 1 January and 31 August 2027.
Applications must be submitted individually. Organisations and groups cannot apply on behalf of a collective, and the grant is not intended for mobility where applicants are required to travel together as an ensemble or group.
For applicants based in the EU, the proposed mobility must demonstrate an existing partnership, collaboration or previous engagement with an African cultural actor.
Applications must be submitted in English.

The call is open to individual artists and culture professionals aged 18 and above who are currently based in Sub-Saharan Africa or the European Union.

Eligible locations
The programme is open to all countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and all European Union Member States.
This includes countries across East, West, Central and Southern Africa, including South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini and others across the eligible regions.
