Call for Applications: Lucie Foundation Photo Book Prize 2026

The Lucie Foundation is inviting photographers, publishers, editors, and curators from around the world to apply for the 2026 Lucie Foundation Photo Book Prize, celebrating excellence in photographic publishing across a wide range of formats.


The annual juried competition recognises outstanding photography books, from traditionally published titles to self-published books, handmade editions, exhibition catalogues, and zines.


The awards aim to honour creative storytelling and innovation in photographic publishing while providing international recognition for both photographers and publishers.


Funding

Three cash prizes will be awarded:

Book of the Year: $3,000 USD (awarded to the publisher)

First Book Prize: $2,000 USD (awarded to a photographer publishing their first photo book)

Self-Published Prize: $2,000 USD (awarded to the photographer)


Eligible publications

The competition welcomes a broad range of photography publications, including:

  • Exhibition catalogues

  • Self-published and handmade books

  • Limited edition publications

  • Single-artist and multi-artist books

  • Photography books incorporating other creative disciplines such as writing, graphic design, painting, or music

  • Zines and other experimental publication formats


Books may focus on any photographic genre, including documentary, portraiture, fine art, landscape, fashion, photojournalism, and contemporary photography.


Eligibility

Applications are open to photographers, publishers, editors, and curators worldwide.


Eligible books must have been created or published between September 2024 and September 2026.

Deadline: 15 September 2026


Applicants must complete the online submission form and upload a complete PDF of their book, along with image files prepared according to the competition guidelines.
