Call for Applications: Liu Shiming Artist Grants 2026

The Liu Shiming Artist Grants recognise visual artists whose work explores the dialogue between tradition and contemporary artistic expression.


The programme supports both current and new projects across a range of visual art practices, encouraging artists to develop work that reflects cultural heritage while engaging with contemporary ideas and creative approaches.


The programme is designed to help artists during the first decade of their careers by providing financial support to create or complete ambitious artistic projects.


Funding

The selected visual artists will each receive a USD 5,000 grant.


Grant funding will be disbursed in two instalments:

  • USD 3,000 by 15 January 2027.

  • USD 2,000 upon completion of the proposed project.


Eligibility

Applications are open to visual artists worldwide.


Applicants must:

  • Have been practising as a visual artist for at least two years, but no more than 10 years.

  • Have either obtained a studio arts degree between 2016 and 2024, or held their debut gallery exhibition or juried art exhibition between 2016 and 2026.

  • Submit their application and all supporting materials in English.


Projects are reviewed by a panel comprising the Foundation's Curatorial Director, an established artist, and leading arts professionals.
