The Local Initiatives Fund in Southern Africa (LIFSA+)Â has opened applications for its 2026 funding round, supporting small civil society organisations working in Gauteng, South Africa, and Lesotho.
Implemented by the Government of the Principality of Monaco in partnership with ILLIS Monaco, with the support of Monaco Aide et Présence (MAP), the programme aims to strengthen grassroots organisations delivering meaningful social impact in their communities.
Funding
Selected organisations may receive grants of up to R160,000 (or LSL 160,000)Â to implement projects over a maximum period of 12 months.
In addition to financial support, successful applicants will receive technical assistance, institutional capacity-building, and networking opportunities to help strengthen their organisations beyond the life of the project.

Priority is given to projects that empower young people and women, strengthen employability and economic independence, improve the well-being of vulnerable communities, promote social cohesion, and build the long-term capacity of local civil society organisations.
Eligibility
Applications are open to registered civil society organisations operating in Gauteng Province (including Johannesburg and surrounding areas) and Lesotho.
Applicants must be legally registered in South Africa or Lesotho. Organisations that are not registered may apply in partnership with a registered organisation.
Private entities are eligible only if they are registered as non-profit companies (NPCs).
