La Fabrique Cinéma, an initiative of the Institut français, is inviting applications from emerging filmmakers across the Global South for its 2027 programme. Held alongside the Cannes Film Festival, the initiative supports feature film projects in development by connecting selected filmmakers with international producers, financiers, distributors, and other key industry professionals.
The programme is designed to help projects secure international co-production and financing opportunities while expanding their global industry networks.
Funding
La Fabrique Cinéma supports selected projects by connecting filmmakers with international co-producers, distributors, broadcasters, sales agents, and financing partners during the Cannes Film Festival.
Selected participants also receive:
Full programme participation, including personalised coaching, workshops, pitch preparation, and professional meetings.
Presentation of their project at the Marché du Film.
Access to selected Cannes Film Festival industry events.
Transport, accommodation, accreditation, and a daily allowance during the official programme, covered by the Institut français.
Applicants should note that the total estimated production budget for the submitted feature film must not exceed €3 million.
Eligibility
The programme is open to filmmakers and producers from eligible countries in the Global South. Applications must be submitted jointly by a director and producer, both of whom must be nationals of, or have lived and worked for at least five years in, one of the eligible countries.
Projects must be feature-length fiction, documentary, animation, or hybrid films that are still in development and have not yet entered production, apart from location scouting.
Projects that have already secured partial funding are eligible to apply.
Application requirements
Applications should include a screenplay, a treatment or long synopsis, statements of intent from both the director and producer, a moodboard or project stills, a financing plan, CVs and filmographies for both applicants, and a link to the director's recent work.
