The International Coproduction Fund (IKF) supports international collaborations between performing arts organisations and artists based outside Germany and their partners in Germany.
Administered by the Goethe-Institut, the fund supports dialogue-oriented coproductions that bring together artists, ensembles and cultural initiatives to develop new work or further develop existing productions.
The programme is open to projects in music, theatre, dance and performance, including interdisciplinary and hybrid projects that explore new forms of artistic collaboration and appropriate uses of digital media.
Projects must be developed through a genuine and balanced partnership with artists, ensembles or initiatives based in Germany. The collaborative artistic process should demonstrate mutual interest, dialogue and meaningful international exchange.
Funding
Applicants can request between €15,000 and €30,000 in funding.
The International Coproduction Fund provides partial funding of up to 75% of the total production costs.
Eligible costs may include artist fees, travel, production expenses and other costs directly related to the project.
Scope and approach
The fund supports the creation of new productions and the further development of existing work with a strong artistic concept and public impact.
Projects should involve collaborative artistic development between international partners and their German collaborators.
Projects that are purely commercial, commissioned works, guest performances, tours or residency-based projects are not eligible. The fund also does not support music recordings, film or exhibition projects without a performative element, or ongoing operational costs.
Applications must be submitted online in English.

The programme particularly welcomes applications from organisations and cultural practitioners based in developing and transition countries included on the OECD DAC List of ODA Recipients.

Projects must focus on music, theatre, dance or performance, including interdisciplinary and hybrid projects with a clear performative element.
The call is open to legal entities based outside Germany, including cultural institutions, associations, foundations, ensembles and other formally organised bodies.
Individual artists can only apply if they are represented or organised through a legal entity.
