Hiding in Plain Site is an international curated film exhibition programme seeking short moving-image works that explore public art and creative expression in everyday spaces.
The programme looks at how public art appears across different communities and contexts, from site-specific installations and community projects to performance, outdoor works and experimental interventions.
Artists and filmmakers are invited to submit works that bring fresh perspectives to public art, particularly through poetic, experimental, documentary, essayistic, or hybrid storytelling.
Funding
Selected filmmakers and creators will receive financial support, with the amount determined based on revenues generated through programme presentations.
Scope and approach
Submissions will be considered based on originality, emotional or conceptual impact, and fit with the programme.
The inaugural edition aims to present an eclectic selection of moving-image works that reflect the many ways artists and communities experience and interpret public art.
Eligibility
The open call welcomes filmmakers, artists, designers, students, creative practitioners and collectives, from emerging to established creators. No professional filmmaking background is required, and international submissions are encouraged.
Submissions can include:
Documentary
Narrative film
Video art
Animation
Experimental media
XR (extended reality)
AI-generated or AI-assisted original work
The work should be 2–20 minutes long and feature or meaningfully engage with public art.
