
The Goethe-Institut, in partnership with Expertise France and Institut français, has opened applications for the Sub-Saharan Africa, Connect & Create Component under the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture programme.
This initiative supports collaborative visual arts projects between Sub-Saharan African and European practitioners, fostering intercultural dialogue, peer learning, and co-creation.
The programme focuses on the full artistic process, from concept development to production and public presentation, with an emphasis on equitable partnerships and shared knowledge creation.
Funding
Selected teams may receive up to €20,000 to support the development, production, and public presentation of collaborative visual arts projects.
Funding may cover artist fees, production materials, travel, exhibition costs, and audience engagement activities.
Eligibility
Applications are open to teams of visual artists and cultural professionals working collaboratively across Sub-Saharan Africa and Europe.
Teams must consist of a minimum of two members
All members must be 18 years or older and active in visual arts or related disciplines
Applicants must be based in Sub-Saharan Africa or the European Union
The team lead (primary applicant) must be based in Sub-Saharan Africa
Projects must involve equitable, dialogue-based collaboration between partners
The programme supports the creation of finished artistic work and does not fund residencies, research-only projects, or administrative initiatives.
