Open Call: Fund for Authors and Producers from Africa (FAPA) 2026

The Fund for Authors and Producers from Africa (FAPA) provides financial support in the form of subsidies to organisations that implement programmes to train or mentor authors and producers from Sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti in film and audiovisual production.


FAPA is co-financed and co-managed by a consortium of international film and cultural bodies. FAPA subsidises organisations that implement capacity-building programmes for Sub-Saharan African and Haitian authors and producers.


It funds the mobility of professionals from Sub-Saharan Africa and Haiti to international festivals and markets, to promote networking and increase the visibility of their projects.


Funding

Subsidies for author and producer training or support programs are capped at €80,000 per organisation.


Eligibility

Organisations

  • Legally established for more than 24 months

  • Based in Africa (including North Africa) or in one of the partner countries: Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Canada, France, Luxembourg, or Greece

  • Must have proven experience in supporting, training, or networking authors and/or producers in the film or audiovisual sector


Support Programs

  • Must focus on supporting film/audiovisual creators or building producer capacity

  • Must have a multi-country approach and aim for gender parity among participants

  • Must have completed at least one prior edition, unless the organisation has sufficient comparable experience

  • Conducted in French for Francophone components, and in English or Portuguese for non-Francophone components

  • Must begin no later than 12 months after the selection committee meeting and conclude within 24 months of signing the agreement


Participants

  • Must be nationals of a Sub-Saharan African country or Haiti

  • Authors must have directed or written at least one film or audiovisual work screened at a festival, in cinemas, on television, or on a VOD/SVOD platform

  • Producers must demonstrate professional experience in the film or audiovisual sector
