
The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), Western Cape Government, has opened applications for its 2026/27 Annual Funding Initiatives, supporting arts, culture, and heritage projects across the province. This opportunity is designed for organisations and practitioners seeking to strengthen programme delivery, expand access, and enhance participation within their respective fields.
Who can apply
Funding is available to registered organisations, institutions, artist groups, events companies, and individual artists who are South African citizens based in the Western Cape. Persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Funding categories
The call covers a wide range of disciplines, including:
Cultural Tourism - Projects showcasing Western Cape heritage, arts, and cultureÂ
Literature - Poetry, creative writing, children’s literature, book fairs and festivals
Film - Film development, production support, participation in festivals and conferences
Language Promotion and Preservation- Initiatives promoting indigenous languages and South African Sign Language
Multidisciplinary - Intersectoral artistic collaborations
Performance Arts - Comedy, dance, music, theatre, festivals, puppetry, poetry, and more
Visual Arts and Crafts - Painting, ceramics, fashion, exhibitions, photography, illustration, and sculpture
Funding amount
Grant amounts range from R50,000 to R100,000 for individuals and Pty Ltd applicants, and up to R500,000 for Non-Profit Companies and Organisations.
DCAS is particularly encouraging proposals that demonstrate innovation, social cohesion, skills development, gender responsiveness, inclusion of persons with disabilities, and alignment with provincial priorities such as job creation and wellbeing.
