Open Call: Connect & Create Relay Scheme 2026

The Connect & Create Relay Scheme is inviting young communications professionals across Sub-Saharan Africa to take part in a professional development programme focused on cultural communications.


The programme will select participants across 12 African countries, giving them the opportunity to work directly with Creative Tandem projects in their country while developing their skills through practical experience, training and individual mentoring.


The role combines hands-on work with professional development, allowing participants to gain experience in areas such as storytelling, social media, editorial planning, media relations and cultural reporting.


Support

An allowance will be provided for communication activities carried out for the supported project.


The programme includes a training certificate and access to a peer network of communication professionals across the participating African countries and the wider Connect & Create ecosystem.


Eligibility

The opportunity is open to:

  • Journalists

  • Communications professionals

  • Content creators

  • Influencers and media hosts or presenters 


Applicants must have 2–5 years of professional experience in communications, journalism, media, or content creation.


They should have an interest in performing arts, music, and the wider cultural and creative industries, as well as an active audience and a demonstrated local presence through social media, media platforms, community networks, or similar channels.


Applicants must live in one of the following countries: South Africa, Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Uganda, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, or Senegal.


Application requirements

Applicants will be asked to submit an online application form, a short CV in English or French, and a portfolio containing up to three examples of previous work.
