The AXS Film Fund was founded to support independent documentary filmmakers and nonfiction new media creators living with disabilities, particularly those from historically underserved communities.
The fund is committed to elevating diverse voices in media and providing a space for talented storytellers whose work and perspectives are frequently underrepresented in the industry.
Funding
Each year, the fund awards creators with grants of up to $10,000 each, available for projects at any stage of production, with no restrictions on how the funding is used within the project.
Scope of funding
The fund supports feature-length documentary films with a runtime of 45 minutes or more, as well as nonfiction new media projects with a film or video component. Projects at any stage of production are eligible, from pre-production through to distribution.
Eligibility
The fund is open to individual applicants. Projects must meet the following conditions:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must not be enrolled in a degree-granting programme
Must be the director or producer of the project
Fiscal sponsorship is permitted
Projects in languages other than English must include English subtitles
Projects led by individuals who identify as living with a disability, particularly those from underserved communities, are strongly encouraged to apply; however, all applicants are welcome
