The Goethe-Institut is inviting festival organisers in West Africa to apply for funding through the Africa-Europe Partnerships for Culture: Midscale Festivals Grants project.
Funded by the European Union, the initiative aims to strengthen cultural collaboration within West Africa and between Africa and Europe.
The programme focuses on supporting the internationalisation of the festival sector while creating new opportunities for cultural exchange, co-creation, artist mobility and professional collaboration.
Funding
Each selected organisation can receive a grant of up to €50,000.
Funding is based on a detailed project budget and can support activities that strengthen international collaboration and the development of the festival sector.
Supported activities may include collaborations and co-productions, participation in festival tours, professional mobility, visits to festivals and major cultural events, engagement with European professional networks, and the development of international marketing strategies.

The programme supports medium-sized festivals working in the following cultural sectors:
Cinema, audiovisual and animation
Heritage
Literature
Music
Performing arts
Visual arts
Applicants must select one cultural sector or theme when submitting their application.
Projects should also demonstrate consideration for gender equality, the inclusion of persons with disabilities and environmentally sustainable practices.
Scope and approach
Applications should include an organisational profile, information about the festival and its activities, a proposed implementation strategy, plans for networking and cultural exchange, measures addressing gender equality, inclusion and environmental sustainability, and a detailed project budget.
Applicants must also provide links to their website and/or social media platforms.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants may include public or private organisations, nonprofit organisations, foundations and collectives involved in one of the supported cultural sectors.
The call is open to legally registered organisations operating in one of the following 15 West African countries:
Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.
